2020-2021 CHANGES DUE TO COVID-19

Continuing Service Safely

This year we are coordinating with the Rural High School in Cabbage Village, Belize District. Due to the pandemic we are unable to have a service trip this year. However, we are continuing our pen pal program, and fundraising to ship period products, and have others put on menstrual health workshops at the school.

ABOUT US

As a senior Biology major at Loyola Marymount University, Marisa Cariño established Empower HER in 2017 after being granted a $10,000 scholarship from the Donald A. Strauss Foundation and partnering with the non-profit group, Reto Juvenil Internacional.

Empower HER is coordinated between students at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles and the San Victor School in Belize. Students of all majors at LMU participate in the two-fold nature of the Empower HER organization: an international pen pal program and service trip.
